Dramatic Cottagecore

The people continue to yearn for simpler times and the sense of coziness, softness, and tranquility that can only be found within their haven. Though cottagecore is not a new trend, in 2025 you’ll be seeing maximalist influences creeping in. Expect pops of rich jewel tones (sapphire blue, emerald green) and saturated earthy colors (terracotta, chocolate brown) punch up the traditionally pastel color scheme. And instead of delicate florals, the pattern is getting grander and more ornate with statement wallpapers and eye-catching rugs.

“We expect to see a lot of the cozy English cottage look with a millennial update… We're seeing lots of warm tones, pattern play.”

Mindful Maximalism

Maximalism has become synonymous with a chaotic energy — rooms filled to the brim with a hodgepodge of mismatched furniture and decor. In 2025, we’ll be pulling back with a more intentional and curated take on the style. Instead of a clash of loud colors, we’re choosing vibrant but cohesive color schemes. Try color drenching, where the entire room’s walls and ceilings are enveloped in one lush hue for a cozy yet bold look. And instead of overloading your space with personal treasures, consider strategically creating a few focal points with pattern, color, or texture.

“A more curated take to maximalism will remain relevant in 2025… This means focusing on the narrative, with a craft-driven and resourceful mix-and-match approach to pattern, material, and styling.”

Pattern Drenching

Say goodbye to cavernous open floor plans where one room bleeds into the next. Instead, use pattern drenching to personalize each room with wallpapers, murals, tiles, or patterned furniture and decor. Enveloping a room in one pattern, or a mix of patterns that share a cohesive theme, instantly adds coziness and character to a home. Try the effect in even non-maximalist homes, from coastal to mid century modern to boho chic. And don’t forget to look up — the ceiling, aka the fifth wall — to truly cocoon the home with your unique vision.

“Mixing patterns might seem scary at first. But a little print-on-print action is exactly what your home needs to go from boring to boom.”

Romantic Silhouettes

From rufflecore to coquette corsets and bows, the world of fashion has taken a turn for the romantic — and it’s no different for our homes. If you’re ready to romanticize your life, consider furniture with soft flowing lines, delicate and sumptuous fabrics, and decor with feminine flair like fringes or lace trims. Invest in soothing yet eye-catching pieces that add main character energy to your home, from the coziest barrel-backed reading chair to a delicate chandelier. We love that it’s an easy trend to incorporate into any existing interior style and room.

“Circular coffee and dining tables with cylindrical legs, bulbous sofas and accent chairs, and oblong mirrors are showing up everywhere.”

Saturated Colors

2025 is not the year of taking half measures, in life or in design. So, take the plunge with moody, saturated colors that feel sultry yet soothing. We’re looking at deep burgundy, navy blue, saturated forest green, terracotta, crimson cherry, and especially earthy chocolate brown that seems to be everywhere. This lineup is all about natural and grounding colors that are still making a statement — on our walls or in our furnishing and decor. We’re even seeing the usual cream-colored bouclé show up in moodier tones at furniture and design shows.

“Rich, dark colors are supplanting the relaxed 1970s palette — of rust, mustard, and olive — that recently dominated.”
