You’ve heard it time and again: They grow up so fast. But, your child will still need the right bed—and headboard, if you’re so inclined—for those years in between the crib and a standard adult-sized setup. Sleep is important for all of us, but especially for kids during early development. Rest assured, there are plenty of options out there to help them get their much-needed shuteye. Read on to learn more about finding the best beds and headboards for kids.
The number one clue that it’s time to upgrade to a toddler bed? If your little one has begun to make attempts (or even been successful) at climbing over the bars of their crib. This change typically happens between 18-24 months of age, or when your child reaches around 3 feet tall.
Typically up to 50 inches long, a standard-size toddler bed often uses the same mattress as the crib. The height of a toddler bed is lower to the ground, making it easy to climb in and out. Some beds offer partial guardrails as an additional safety benefit.
