The layout of your room is key when deciding between a right- or left-facing sectional.
A right-facing sectional has a chaise on the right side when you’re facing the sofa. This layout works best if you have a focal point on the right side of the room. For example, you may want to face towards the TV or fireplace while lounging on the chaise.
By contrast, a left-facing sectional has a chaise on the left. Choose this configuration if you want to highlight features on the left side of the room. This layout also allows traffic to flow smoothly if you place the sectional in a left corner.
Fabric sectionals are made from chenille, microfiber, linen, velvet, and other materials. They come in a wide variety of colors and designs to suit every aesthetic. They often have affordable price tags and are easy to maintain, making them ideal for families with children and pets.
Sectional manufacturers also use genuine or faux leather. Genuine leather sectionals feel luxuriously soft and have unique textures. These pieces of furniture tend to soften and develop a rich sheen with age. Faux leather is less expensive but may be less durable.
Sectionals come in a broad range of sizes to accommodate different living room layouts and seating requirements.
Small sectionals typically measure around 112” to 130" long. These pieces of furniture have two or three pieces, such as a sofa and a chaise. They can accommodate two to three adults.
Medium sectionals measure around 130” to 160” long. They may have three or four pieces like a sofa, chaise, and corner piece. These sectionals fit in most standard living rooms.
Finally, large L-shaped sectionals measure 160” long and above to accommodate large families. They often have six or seven pieces, such as multiple corner pieces and an ottoman.
