'The things you own, end up owning you' - Tyler Durden, Fight Club. Inspired by consumerism and life in a capitalist society, 'Presentation' by Ken Womack is a physical exploration of the dynamic between seller and buyer, marketer and consumer. The 3-foot fishing hook is made of plywood, and the 'Louis Vuitton' purse is a DayGlo cardboard replica intended to highlight the sometimes crass advances of the material world. About the artistHouston-born and Dallas-based artist Ken Womack works with a variety of mediums to create pop-inspired artwork that comments on our collective compulsions, obsessions and infatuations. Womack creates engaging pieces with a twist and loves working with shiny, noisy materials - like reflective surfaces, flashing lights, neon, black light, gloss varnishes, and day-glow - to take his work over the top. He believes that artists have an obligation to share their gifts with the world because art has a transformative power to turn negative trends and thought-processes into joy.
