Ambient lighting: Also called general lighting, ambient lighting serves as the primary light source for a room. They are typically overhead fixtures centered in a room.

Task lighting: Task lighting is extra lighting used in a room to perform a specific task, such as sewing or reading. Task lighting is used in addition to ambient lighting.

Accent lighting: Accent lighting directly highlights and emphasizes a feature, such as a painting, sculpture, or architectural detail.

Decorative lighting: Decorative lights add an extra layer of light and sparkle to a room, enhancing the beauty of your space.
